Tell us about your path into interior design. When did you first realize this was more than a passion and something you wanted to pursue professionally?
After building a few homes for our family I realized it was my passion. As the wife of a professional hockey player, I never had a “home base” but the way I would design each of the places (without even knowing I'm doing it) made it feel like home. I feel like that’s what some people are missing in their current spaces.
You’ve built a respected business while raising three young children. What has that
season of life taught you about ambition, priorities, and yourself?
It's all a juggling act, and not everyday is effortless. Like every other mom, there are moments of guilt and sacrifice to both my kids and the business. I have learned that organization and time management is key and at the end of the day, being a mom comes first but also don't be afraid to ask for help to have the perfect balance.

Many moms feel pulled between family and career. What does “juggling it all” look like in your home right now, and what helps you stay grounded?
I'd like to say I'm a super human doing it all myself but I am not! I have a nanny who helps me with the kids especially while my husband travels for work. I am very scheduled and organized so the task at hand for the day can be handled. Being able to ask for help outside your business and inside it, makes both worlds spin and thats truly what it takes for me to be able to “juggle it all”.
You’ve shared that you placed a small pause on your business while living in Canada. Can you tell us more about that decision and what that chapter taught you?
I would say more that I had a slow burn of a business while I was in Canada because it was a US based business. I worked on a lot of courses and planned what my business would look like when I got back to the states - Hence the scaling with only being here a year! Patience is the word that comes to mind. Being a sponge and putting myself in rooms to be able to learn as much as I possibly can. Making life long friendships and working relationships that wont matter where I am working, but people that want to see me grow and succeed.
Interior designers often say their own homes are the hardest to finish! How would you describe your personal style, and how do you approach designing a space for your own family?
My personal interior design style is definitely transitional. Lots of mixed materials, layering of fabrics, non stimulating prints. I often find myself designing for families and functionality and my surroundings often are said to be “calming” which makes sense for an constantly overstimulated mom.

Has motherhood influenced the way you think about function versus beauty?
Totally! Especially when it comes to designing for families, functionality is a huge part of my process. More importantly evolving families and how spaces can be transformed without redoing the design every couple of years. When speaking on terms of interior decorating, all the fabrics I used when designing for families are high performance, washable, stain free (or can be treated). It lets the families not only have a beautiful space but not ever spill means a new piece of furniture.
What are your top three design tips for families who want a home that is both elevated and livable?
1. Thoughtful storage
2. If building, a layout of a home for the functionality of a family is so important.
3. Larger pieces of furniture be neutral and small pieces are where I would have the more fun with print and patterns (ex: baby's room turning into toddlers room)
What is one design mistake you see homeowners make again and again?
Feeling like they need to fill every wall, nook and space in their home. Less is more!
What has this chapter of life taught you about yourself?
Timing is everything and when its your time, you’ll know it.
If you could go back and give your younger self advice before kids and career, what would it be?
Get uncomfortable more, it makes you grow and learn more than you could ever imagine.
Any advice for moms who are looking to return or start a career after having kids?
You have way more skills from being a mother than you think, sometimes its just leaning into an area you love to figure out whats meant for you to do next.
